Lesley Aine Mckeown

Metalsmith

“Creating is a dance and it is in the sharing that the circle is complete”

Favored by genetics –with both parents being professional artists, it is little wonder Lesley pursued a career in art.   Constantly surrounded by interesting stimuli and encouraged to explore all mediums, Lesley choose Metal as her first venue.

“Metal satisfies the maker in me.  It is direct and immediate it enables me to

transform ideas into permanence.”

Creating three dimensional forms that function as well as appeal to the aesthetic is continually compelling.   Lesley’s approach is straightforward.  Exploring forms and using only essential details in search of a simplicity that balances the idiosyncrasies of nature with the clean rhythms of modernism.

“Art should never be peripheral, by fusing emotion with technique the viewer will find the motivation to participate in the piece.”

When not creating in her studio on her small ranch in Sedona, Lesley owns and operates Gifted Hands Gallery in Tlaqeupaque Village in Sedona.  Her hobbies include riding her horses, gardening and creating large scale steel sculptures.
