Below are two letters sent to Martha Rocco, an art teacher, from the mother of one of her students in Anthem, AZ., and her response.
Madie LOVES the art book you gave her on Thursday. She hasn't put it down. She has picked out some artists that she likes and has been inspired by their works. So far tonight she has painted 3 pictures that we think are just lovely. Last night she hurried to get her homework done and got right to painting. Thanks for sharing the book with her, she is treasuring it!

Guess what! That book has the same effect on me!!! I understand completely. I was at a gallery in Sedona and asked the owner about possibly getting copies of that book and she gave me the name and e-mail for the owner/publisher. So we met at the local Home Depot parking lot and he gave me 180 copies in 6 boxes! I plan to keep 30 copies for each school to use in lessons and still have many to pass on to interested people. I find the book wonderful because many do not realize there is a whole world of art out there, and many may never get to a gallery until high school. The book shows the paintings, sculpture, jewelry, print making, etc...all of the things that define art. The addresses and phone numbers of galleries in the state are valuable for many artist-parents at New River who want to display and sell their work. This is a greatest resource I’ve ever seen for anyone looking for art!

------ At The Clarendon Hotel (Phoenix) our goal is to make sure that our guests leave with a memories of a wonderful experience in Arizona. One way we achieve this is by supporting local, independently-owned, non-franchised businesses. Another way is by only using local artists for all artwork in our guest rooms and public areas, and by carrying the Arizona Collectors Guide in all guest rooms and the lobby. Guests are welcome to take the guide free of charge. On many occasions I've received calls from guests who remembered seeing the guide in their guest room at The Clarendon and wanted one sent to them. The reception of the guide has been nothing but positive, and it's a great addition to the guest rooms. I plan on carrying it in my guest rooms as long as it is produced. -------
Wow! I just finished looking at (the) Arizona Collector's Guide. I'm impressed. When (it was) given to me last night I leafed through it quickly to be polite. But guess what? I was absolutely captivated by it!! I looked at every page and read a lot of it. I love everything about it: the layout, the city maps, the interesting articles about the artists, the beautiful pictures, the quality of the paper, the size, etc. I especially enjoyed "A Beginner's Guide to Buying Art". It makes me want to come to Arizona and shop!
